Safe Travels/ Viajes Seguros
Nyeland Promise was awarded a mini-grant from the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Go Human, to continue improving pedestrian and bicycle safety in Nyeland Acres. Nyeland Acres does not have sidewalks or crosswalks and traveling through the community is unsafe. This summer, Nyeland Promise implemented Safe Travels Continuation in Nyeland Acres, a multilingual education and outreach program that aims to promote safe passages, bike safety, and pedestrian traffic for children and residents when walking in and around the streets. Nyeland Promise even hosted a fun summer Bike Rodeo in Nyeland Acres to educate children on bicycle safety. Children that attended the event received educational materials and a helmet.
Fence Weaving Mural
Our Nyeland Acres familia gathered to work on a fun fence weaving project and to install educational lawn signs around the community. Our Safe Travels awareness campaign also raises awareness about driving safe in the community. The Fence messaged aimed to encourage drivers to slow down and to increase safe walking for pedestrians.
